On Monday August 20th, 2018, Outer Banks Sporting Events will be conducting a sign up night for past and potentially new volunteers at The White Doe Inn located in Manteo, NC. from 4PM – 7PM.
Outer Banks Sporting Events is a 501c3 non-profit organization that organizes and promotes sports competition and healthy living resources, provide financial resources for needed relief and support for public education while contributing to economic impact for the Outer Banks of North Carolina. 100% of net proceeds are shared by the Dare Education Foundation and the Outer Banks Relief Foundation.
These events take months to plan and rely on volunteers, sometimes throughout various parts of the planning process and heavily on race weekends to help create smooth running, successful events.
Volunteering with OBSE offers vital help to our athletes, contributes to our local causes and community, but the benefits can be even greater for our volunteer. Volunteering and inspiring others is very enjoyable can help volunteers reduce stress, combat depression, keep them mentally stimulated, and provide a sense of purpose. While it’s true that the more one volunteer’s the more benefits they’ll experience, volunteering doesn’t have to involve a long-term commitment or take a huge amount of time out of their busy day. Giving in even simple ways can help out greatly, inspire our athletes and be extremely fun & self-rewarding! All voluteer’s receive special event shirts.
OBSE is currently needing help for two major events coming up; The Outer Banks Triathlon to be held in September and the Outer Banks Marathon to be held in November.
“We are looking to everyone from individuals, pairs of two or three and even big groups from schools, hospitals, other organizations and offices, etc.” Says Race Director, Jenny Ash of OBSE “We are providing a great need in the community, so we are asking our community to come out give us a hand! We can’t do it without our volunteers” Jenny Continues
It’s notable to say if one wanted to captain and organize their own group, OBSE has that volunteer opportunity as well as the opportunity for service hours that may be needed for our young adults.
Volunteer Sign Up night will provide guests with all the info needed to get signed up at a later date or sign up on site. OBSE has many different jobs that a volunteer can sign up for that may suit them best. Whether helping to direct traffic or hand out water to packing and handing out bags at packet pickup, helping with after parties or any other variety of jobs OBSE offers.
Light apps will be available with beer and wine provided by The White Doe Inn as well as door prizes that will be given away during the evening including a one nights stay for two at The White Doe Inn. Sign up for a volunteer spot on site and get a second raffle ticket into the drawing!
Outer Banks Sporting Events is looking for a great community turnout and hopes to see everyone out at the White Doe inn on Monday August 20th from 4pm-7pm.
